Riding Toward a Better Quality of Life

Our agency is helping to provide therapeutic horseback riding activities to 7 individuals living with a disability. We are working alongside Special Equestrians, Inc. to ensure that both children and adults receive the proper treatment and care through equine-assisted activities.

With the help of volunteers, Special Equestrians, Inc. offers therapeutic riding classes to those with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD and more. The classes are offered to those in Lee, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades Counties in Southwest Florida. The farm is home to 12 horses and provides a safe space for participants and volunteers. The programs offered by Special Equestrians, Inc. are offered year-round and there are 20 different activities and obstacle stations that the participants experience while riding the trails located on the farm.  “Our agency wants to help those who may not be able to afford these great services being offered to help that will essentially give them a better quality of life.”

The program assists more than 80 participants each week and each class is approximately 30 minutes per session. The cost of a 6-week session is $72 dollars. Funds raised throughout this campaign will help to provide scholarships for 7 children and adults who can benefit from the classes and the organization is always looking for volunteers to assist them!
